A traveller's almanac

Tours for the slow, curious traveller.

Strange beds, one good adventure a day, sunsets you don't have to rush. We build trips that turn into years you can name.

Tab 01 — The letter

It's past midnight and I'm comparing two ferry timetables for a trip that isn't even mine. One is forty minutes faster. The other leaves at dawn and catches the islands waking up. The dawn ferry wins — the dawn ferry always wins. That, roughly, is the kind of person you're dealing with. Hello, I'm Nakul.

I started Travalong Journeys in 2015, when the maps and the timetables and the slightly unreasonable joy of finding a route nobody else bothers with refused to stay a hobby.

My whole method fits in one line: a good trip is everything between a strange bed and a good sunset. Sleep somewhere worth opening your eyes for, do one thing each day you'll happily exaggerate for years, and end where the sky shows off. What I won't sell you is eight countries in nine days — that isn't a journey, it's a delivery route, and you're the parcel.

Ask my favourite trip and I genuinely can't answer. But ask about any year of my life and I'll answer with a place: 2015 is a bridge in Prague at 5:40 in the morning. That's what a good trip does — it quietly stops being a holiday and becomes how you remember your own life.

So that's what I build now: trips that turn into years you can name.

Tab 03 — The method (bring snacks)

How we build a trip that's yours.

The truthful version, with the boring bits left in.

yes, fourteen tabs is normal
01

You talk. We scribble.

"Beach, but not boring. Culture, but no museums. Mom's vegetarian. Budget is… reasonable." We've heard it all — and we write down every word.

02

We draw you a map.

An actual route, by hand, in 48 hours. Dotted lines, a circled lunch spot, and one detour we will defend with our lives.

03

You change everything.

v1. v2. v4-FINAL. v7-FINAL-final. Good — that's the process working. We redraw until it's yours, not ours.

04

We argue with hotels (so you don't).

The room with the view they promised. The driver who arrives early. The table that doesn't exist online. This is the boring part. We love the boring part.

05

You leave. We hover.

One WhatsApp away, the whole time. Your guide knows. We know. The chai-wala somehow also knows. You'll never feel it — until you need it.

"No charge until the route makes you grin. That's the whole pitch."

Tab 06½ — The fine print, out loud

Questions people ask at 1 a.m.

we know, because that's when they WhatsApp us.
How does paying for this actually work?
A deposit holds your trip (or your seat, on a fixed departure); the balance is due closer to travel. UPI, bank transfer, cards — all fine. And custom sketches cost nothing until you say yes to one — that's The Redraw Promise: unlimited redraws, free, until the route makes you grin.
What if I have to cancel?
Honest answer: it depends on the hotels and airlines underneath your trip, and we'll tell you each one's rules before you pay — not after. If life happens, we fight for every refundable rupee and re-route what we can. Travel insurance is mandatory on our trips for exactly this reason.
Are flights included in the price?
Quoted separately, on purpose — so you see exactly what each piece costs and we can hunt fares for your dates rather than padding a "package." We find them, we book them, we re-book them when the airline has feelings.
Will you deal with my visa?
Yes. Checklists, appointments, the photo with the exact right background colour — we guide the whole file. It's tab nine of fourteen and we genuinely enjoy it, which worries even us.
I'm travelling solo. Is this for me?
Very much. Fixed departures are the easy door in — small group, no organising, instant dinner companions. And custom trips for one are some of our favourite drawings: nobody to compromise with.
Can you handle my whole family — kids, parents, opinions?
Multi-generation trips are a speciality. The trick is building days with exits: gentle mornings for some, one good adventure for others, everyone back together for the sunset. We've refereed worse than your family. Probably.
Tab 07 — Your move

Which year are you trying to make memorable?

A few honest blanks. Fill them in badly — fixing them together is the fun part. Hand-drawn itinerary back in 48 hours; no charge until you say yes.
