Why this one

The days, as we would run them

Day one Kathmandu

Arrive in Kathmandu

the chaos and the calm

Into the great Himalayan crossroads, prayer flags, temple bells, the tangle of Thamel. After the flight we keep it gentle: a first plate of dal bhat and an early night, the city saved for tomorrow.

Day two Kathmandu

The sacred valley

stupas and smoke

Boudhanath, the giant white stupa, at dusk, joining the pilgrims on their slow clockwise kora, then the riverside temples of Pashupatinath and the hilltop monkey temple of Swayambhunath looking out over the whole city.

Day three Kathmandu

Bhaktapur & Patan

the medieval cities

The two old kingdoms that ring the capital: Patan's Durbar Square of Newari bronze and stone, and Bhaktapur, a living medieval city of woodcarvers, potters' wheels and pagoda temples. The detail will slow you right down.

Day four Pokhara

Fly to Pokhara

the lake under the peaks

A 25 minute flight with the Annapurnas out the window to Pokhara, set on a green lake beneath the fishtail spire of Machhapuchhre. A row across Phewa Lake to the island temple, the old bazaar, and the mountains turning pink at sunset.

Day five Pokhara

Sarangkot sunrise

first light on the giants

Up in the dark to Sarangkot for the sunrise, the whole Annapurna wall and Machhapuchhre catching fire one by one. Then the World Peace Pagoda, Davis Falls and the lakeside at your own pace, before tomorrow's walk.

Day six Ghandruk

The trek begins

into the foothills

A short drive to the trailhead, then a gentle walk up stone steps through rhododendron forest and terraced farms to Ghandruk, a stone Gurung village under Annapurna South. No rush and no altitude drama, just a mountain lodge and a sky full of peaks.

Day seven Ghandruk

A day in the hills

the peaks at your shoulder

A forgiving day on the trails around Ghandruk, the great mountains always in view, with a dawn viewpoint for a Poon Hill style sunrise on offer for the keen. Gurung hospitality, woodsmoke, and absolutely nowhere you have to be.

Day eight Kathmandu

Down, and a flight north

back to the city lights

An easy walk out of the hills and the drive back to Pokhara, then the short flight to Kathmandu for a final evening, a rooftop dinner, the valley lights, the trip already turning into a story.

Day nine Kathmandu → home

Homeward

namaste

A last unhurried morning, a final temple, a last flat white in a courtyard café, before your transfer to the airport. Nepal sends you home recalibrated.
